How to Plant Peach Trees

Best time to plant "Early Spring"

  • Dig a hole twice as wide and one and a half times as deep as the root mass. Mix soil from hole with 1 part compost to 2 parts soil.

  • Prune off any twisted, broken or dead roots. Form a cone of the soil mix in the hole. Spread the roots down around the mound.

  • Adjust level of tree so that where the stem joins the rootstock sits one inch above ground level. Fill with soil. Firm and Water.

  • Thin the peaches when they are about one inch in diameter. Allow about 6-10 inches between each fruit on a branch.

  • Spray the tree with dormant oil in early spring of the next year, before the buds open. This will kill any insects and eggs.
